#124 DE PAIN DE SUCRE Hughes Claude Pissaro, French born in
1936 is the grandson of Camille Pissarro. Has been a teacher for
many years but this did not keep him from being a prolific
painter. His talents ranged from engraver, lithographer, publisher,
landscape artist and portraitist. In 1959 he was commissioned by
the White House to paint President Eisenhower. This piece shows a
strong influence of Impressionism with lightly dappled criss-cross
brush style. Oil on canvas, excellent condition, signed lower left.
